Apr. 24--"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," the old saying goes.
According to local contractors, builders and others in the construction industry, Charlotte County's Building Department is broken and they doubt if county officials can fix it.
The major complaint is time -- the months, not weeks, it takes to be issued permits or to have building plans reviewed by county officials.
"This area is growing, it's going to continue to grow, and this problem isn't going to go away," Cris White told county commissioners at a public workshop Tuesday.
