Mar. 30--Holy Week, or Semana Santa, usually translates into big business for Brownsville and South Padre Island.
But a sampling of business owners and leaders in the Brownsville show that most are cautiously optimistic about the money-making week for several reasons including the proximity of Holy Week to Spring Break. However, some hotels report brisk business and stable peso has helped.
This year Semana Santa, which began with Palm Sunday and runs through the Easter weekend, overlaps Spring Break suggesting promising few weeks of business.
