THE Senate has been invariably described as the council of elders, the highest deliberative body in government, the supreme assembly of senior leaders, etc.
Maybe the Senate is all that and together with the House of Representatives, they represent the symbol and spirit of a democratic government.
What is significant is that it is a body of elders elected by a free people from among the nations noblest citizens who offer themselves to serve the national welfare.
