Mar. 8--The Arizona House and Senate have agreed to take $10 million out of the state job-training program, a defeat for economic-development officials who try to attract and keep businesses in town.
The agreement is preliminary until the state budget is adopted by the Legislature.
"It's bad for Tucson that we lost that money," said Rep. Carol Somers, a Tucson Republican and an advocate for state support of economic development.
"We wish we could have held on to it. But we're in a very, very difficult situation with the current budget crisis."
