Mar. 11--Joe Kuntz says American cars should get better gas mileage. He's got two minivans in his Centennial garage, but he'd like to see vehicles go easier on the environment and do their share to make the nation more independent from Middle East oil.
But he's also got four kids and long car trips home to family in the Midwest -- try cramming that load into a compact. Counting cars in his Willow Creek subdivision puts the Kuntz family firmly in the majority: In 15 minutes on a weekday morning, the 19 sedans going by are largely outnumbered by 33 pickups, minivans and sport utilities.
