BOB NERO, 59, EX-CU PUBLIC RELATIONS CHIEF, HAD VARIED CAREER.(Business)

Bob Nero, who recently retired as head of public relations for the four-campus University of Colorado system, died Wednesday of pancreatic cancer. He was 59.

Those who worked with him say they will miss Mr. Nero's fun-loving nature, wit, professionalism and sound advice on how to buy wine on a budget.

Mr. Nero worked for CU for 19 years, most recently as assistant vice president of institutional relations, a job he began in 1996. He was a familiar and friendly face at every regent meeting or high-profile CU event, including bowl games.
