Norfolk, Va.-area club hopes to renew golf course with sale.

Aug. 12--The member-owned Pine Lakes Country Club, which runs the town's only 18-hole golf course, is negotiating to sell the course in a deal the club hopes could turn around declining membership and debt.

Members are working out a contract to sell the course for about $3 million to Bill Taylor, whose company operates McDonald's restaurants and Blockbuster video stores in the area.

Taylor "has made an offer to the club that we have accepted, and we're working on the contract," said Paul Newbold, who sits on the club's nine-member board of directors. "We want to turn it over to somebody who could keep the club a golf course and ...
