Dr. William A. Mitchell Jr., naturopathic physician and co-founder of Bastyr University, died Tuesday in Seattle of a heart attack. He was 59.
His death came just hours after his son, Noah, 27, suffered a heart attack and died, according to a release from the university.
Mitchell was a doctor, teacher, author and philosopher and taught at various naturopathic colleges throughout North America during the past 30 years.
He co-founded the university with Dr. Joseph Pizzorno, Dr. Lester Griffith and Sheila Quinn in 1978, and was its first dean of admissions.
