DETROIT _ Less than two years ago, Jalen Rose was one of the most coveted basketball players in the world. He was 27 years old, a rising star and an NBA free agent.
Teams kept calling him. But he never picked up the phone, never showed any interest in leaving the Indiana Pacers.
Rose signed a seven-year deal to stay in Indiana and said he wanted "to help this team and city win a championship."
