LOS ANGELES _ The vast hallway behind the ice surface in the Staples Center was jammed with media. On makeshift podiums, framed by deep blue drapes, some of the NHL's biggest stars stood in front of their game shirts, answering questions.
All were polite, poised and pleasant, as the occasion dictated they be for the hundreds of reporters gathered to meet them. This was, after all, the 52nd NHL All-Star weekend, a hockey lovefest.
