BEIJING _ China's government intensified its political campaign against Muslim separatists in the northwest of the country by releasing a report that tries to connect one group to Osama bin Laden while accusing it and others of killing 162 people in more than 200 incidents in China during the past decade.
The report said Muslim Uighurs of the East Turkistan Islamic Movement are "supported and directed" by bin Laden and have received money and training from him in Afghanistan. It claimed that the group "has the unstinting support of Osama bin Laden, and is an important part of his terrorist forces."
