Mar. 1--NORTH PORT, Fla.--North Port is the 13th fastest growing city among the top 100 cities in Florida between 2000 and 2001.
According to the Bureau of Economic and Business Research of the University of Florida's report, "Florida Estimates of Population 2001," the city of North Port grew by an estimated 2,437 residents between 2000 and 2001.
North Port's estimated population is 25,234 -- larger than the 22,797 figure announced by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2000.
