Mar. 3--Donations are the lifeblood of nonprofits. And without board members revved up to raise money, donations dry up.
That's why nonprofit organizations that depend on charitable donations yearn for committed board directors who are willing to give their time and money to a cause. And it's also why charitable groups want to hold on to those individuals once they find them.
"The key we have found is to give our board members a good understanding of what their responsibilities are," said Margie Kersey, founder and director of the Tucson Girls Chorus. "Their job is to raise money. That's what they are there for."
