Mar. 4--CAPE TOWN, South Africa--Denver Mayor Wellington Webb literally stopped traffic on his 13-day trade mission to Africa.
Denver's delegation was the first to meet with southern Africa officials since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Police motorcades escorted the mayor and 63 education, health and religious representatives and business owners around Johannesburg and Pretoria.
"After 9/11 a lot of people said they would come back but Denver is the first one to actually show up," Johnny Brown, commercial director for southern Africa, told the delegation.
