Feb. 21--NEW SUGAR-FREE CANDY: The sweetener in the little blue packs is about to make an appearance in the candy aisle.
Chicago-based Merisant Co., makers of Equal Sweetener, struck a deal with confectionary manufacturer Simply Lite to develop a new line of sugar-free candy carrying the Equal name.
The line of candies, branded Perfect Pleasures, is the first extension of the Equal name since it was launched 20 years ago.
Four separate candies--Intense Fruits, Chocolate Cremes, Caramel Cremes and Mint Trio--will start hitting store shelves this spring.
