Feb. 26--After years of steady growth in international trade, South Florida posted a 3 percent drop in shipments of goods to and from foreign ports in 2001 -- a decline likely to accelerate this year, analysts said Monday.
The downturn came as U.S. recession reduced demand for overseas goods, leaving South Florida's main trade partners in the struggling Latin American and Caribbean region with less money to buy goods from the United States.
