Feb. 5--PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The critics' bottom line: Sunday's Super Bowl ads weren't super.
Several managed to hit the spot, especially Anheuser-Busch's slippery satin sheets and sharp-eyed falcon. But at an average of $1.9 million for a 30-second ad, most of the 56 advertisements fell short of the hype, according to the judges -- 13 Providence College juniors and seniors who spent yesterday morning critiquing ads in Jean Murray's Advanced Advertising class.
"They could have been a lot better," said Jennifer Barry, a 21-year-old from Mansfield, Mass.
