SAN BERNARDINO - The JetHawks have gone to an unlikely source for a leadoff hitter.
Outfielder Doc Brooks, one of the team's most productive hitters batting lower in the order, was moved up to the leadoff spot over the weekend. If the early returns are any indication, he seems to be a nice fit.
In four games as the leadoff hitter, Brooks is batting .286 (4 for 14) with four walks and four runs scored.
JetHawks manager Wally Backman's decision to tap Brooks as the leadoff hitter is intriguing for several reasons. Brooks isn't among the team's best base-stealing threats (6 for 11), doesn't walk much ...
