DALLAS _ A simple mosquito bite turned Marianne Eckley's life into a medical nightmare last summer.
"I cannot describe the pain I felt _ even having three kids without painkillers did not compare to it," recalls the 41-year-old Lewisville, Texas, teacher. "I have always been a fighter, but I felt like I was dying."
Eckley survived a severe case of the West Nile virus, but a year later she reports that she is not fully recovered. Like many such survivors, she is bothered by a collection of symptoms that include extreme tiredness and forgetfulness.
