Sandy Bay Gallery in Hatteras has opened after rebuilding following Hurricane Isabel.
Diversity in fine art, crafts and gifts still reigns at Sandy Bay, which features handmade work, from functional kitchen utensils to original paintings. Despite the blow that the salt water and air dealt the gallery, the coastal venue continues to pay homage to the sea in many of its offerings.
Sterling silver seahorse earrings shine within a glass case. Mermaids light up on lampshades. There is shell-shaped ceramic tableware and fish-scale blown glass tumblers. Fused glass window hangings incorporate images of turtles, fish, waves and heron. A ...
