Aug. 13--Aided by a laptop computer and the Bureau of Labor Statistics Web site, Tami Harney conducted a search Thursday morning for the average hourly wage level for registered nurses in the Oklahoma City area.
Harney filled in requested information on a query page at www.bls.gov, clicked the mouse and onto the screen popped the answer: $21.79.
Harney's mission was accomplished, but it wasn't just to show her audience that average pay for registered nurses in the Oklahoma City area had risen by $1.60 per hour from February 2003 to February 2004.
