Spidla appointed EU commissioner for employment and social affairs
Prague. August 13. INTERFAX EUROPE - Former Czech Prime Minister Vladimir Spidla was appointed EU commissioner for employment and social affairs, European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso announced late Thursday.
Spidla's nomination must still be approved by the European Parliament (EP) in October before he officially assumes the post on November 1.
