Jan. 4--General Motors Corp., which led the industry last year with its now discontinued zero-percent financing scheme, has managed to hold its market share for the first time in more than a decade, analysts said Thursday.
The costly financing offer, which the company initiated in September in an effort to jump-start sales after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, was the first of its kind in the industry. The dramatic offer compelled the other two big Detroit automakers, Ford Motor Co. and the Chrysler unit of DaimlerChrysler, to follow with similar incentive plans.
