Jan. 15--POWAY, Calif.--In a meeting that featured jeers, complaints of poor pay and a shortage of hospital supplies, pro-union nurses angrily accused Palomar Pomerado Health leaders Monday night of purposely stonewalling their petition to conduct a vote asking nurses to unionize.

Nurses from the district's two hospitals, Escondido's 328-bed Palomar Medical Center and Poway's 107-bed Pomerado Hospital, gathered at Monday's board meeting at Pomerado Hospital to demand district administrators "stop delaying" the nurses' request to hold a union vote.
