Gay marriage isn't a civil right
Where does The Register-Guard find these liberal zealots who try endlessly to persuade Oregonians that the same-sex marriage debate is about civil rights? The University of Oregon, of course.
In her Aug. 1 Commentary article, Julie Novkov, an associate professor, compared gay marriage to interracial struggles of the 1960s. She also compares other traditions like polygamy or endogamy as accepted forms of union around the world. So why shouldn't gays be allowed to marry?
