There are some who insist that the beauty of the Canadian Rockies is unsurpassed.
One way to sample that beauty of the backcountry is to hitch up with the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies.
That Calgary group offers guided mountain horseback trips of three or six days from a base camp into the heart of Banff National Park.
It's a chance to see some wild country: flower-filled alpine meadows, rushing streams, forests of pine and larch. Wildlife is abundant. Riding horses into the high country is a lot easier than backpacking.
