Aug. 14--HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. -- A new technical center at Stennis International Airport, which will combine federal and corporate experts in hydrographic mapping, opened Friday.
The Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise -- JALBTCX for the short-winded -- will provide airborne coastal surveying capabilities to the Army and Navy at a much faster pace than the old methods of mapping, which were done from a vessel moving across the ocean surface at a very slow pace.
