OPINION: Hats off to Oscar. DIRECTION: De la Renta finally got the hand of showing in Paris. He did some of the city's best suits, evening dresses, pants and long skirts. IDEAS: Tweeds--Oscar uses a supple English tweed for dresses, suits, coats, jackets and pants. He does the same thing with exploded houndstooth, in bright colors, or black and white. Oscar feels secure with long and short skirts, and they were evenly divided in the collection. QUALITY: It's taken a couple of seasons, but de la Renta's tailoring and workmanship are right up there with the big boys.
