Aug. 17--ARLINGTON, Texas -- Now it all comes down to three votes -- two today and one in November.
Monday's announcement of a tentative agreement between the Dallas Cowboys and the city of Arlington to build a stadium near Ameriquest Field and Six Flags Over Texas set the stage for tonight's votes: The council must formally approve the city's agreement with the Cowboys and then vote to put a referendum on the Nov. 2 ballot asking voters to increase sales and other taxes to pay for half of the $650 million stadium.
