Aug. 19--Two new apartment complexes will help alleviate a housing shortage in Avenal.
The first complex -- the 81-unit, $9.6 million El Palmar Apartments -- held a grand opening Wednesday and is 97 percent leased.
The complex at 1112 E. Whitney Ave. targets low-income working families and features a pool and spa, fitness and community center, play areas and a variety of one programs.
