NEW YORK -- Ask Mitchel Nichnowitz how to say "Botany 500" in Russian and the president and chief executive officer of The 500 Fashion Group answers quite seriously, "Botany 500."
And if he has his way, the Botany name will be on the tip of many a Muscovite's tongue this September when the 60-year-old American tailored clothing name is launched in the first Botany 500 International Man shop in G.U.M. (pronounced goom), the giant government-owned department store in Moscow.
Botany is the first U.S. tailored clothing to be sold in the country.
And Nichnowitz hopes the name will become as synonymous with Made-In America all-wool suits as Levi's is ...
