The Clean Air Act and federal regulations pertaining to reformulated gasoline, oxygenated fuel and low-sulfur diesel fuel will "significantly" alter the refined petroleum distribution system, particularly the products pipeline system, says a pipeline company official.
"The oil industry, and pipelines in particular, have already seen some of these changes with RVP reductions of the past few years. And we will certainly see many more changes in the next several years," notes W.E. Copenhaver, senior manager for operations control at Colonial Pipeline Co. in Atlanta, Ga.
