PHILADELPHIA _ Earlier this week, Tom Brennan, the athletic director at La Salle, called Tom Brennan, the men's basketball coach at Vermont.
Brennan the basketball coach figured that Brennan the athletic director was calling to check on Maine coach John Giannini, a rival coach in the America East and a candidate for the vacant La Salle job. But it turned out Tom Brennan was asking Tom Brennan if he was interested in being La Salle's coach.
"I told the guy, `I'm flattered, but I've got your guy,' " said Vermont's Brennan, who happens to be very high on Giannini. "I've coached against the guy for 10 years. He's really good. ...
