Aug. 17--Investor confidence remains at a low ebb despite the efforts of stock market bulls to talk share prices higher.
The latest investor confidence survey by US investment bank JP Morgan makes gloomy reading, with less than a third of investors pinning their hopes on the market finishing higher on the year. Almost half of those (48 percent) surveyed by JPM reckon that share values will be, more or less, at current levels by year-end while less than a quarter reckon share values will finish down in 2004 for the fourth time in five years.
