The streak is over, but the playoff dream lives on.
The Atlanta Silverbacks ended a 12-match unbeaten streak for the Syracuse Salty Dogs with a 2-1 overtime victory on a drizzly Friday night at P&C Stadium.
After a thrilling end to regulation that saw Matthew Barnes-Homer of the Salty Dogs score in stoppage time to tie the match at 1-1, Atlanta's Velko Iotov chipped in a loose ball from about 10 yards in front of the Syracuse net in the fifth minute of overtime.
The loss ends a Syracuse unbeaten streak that began July 7 in Richmond and saw the Dogs climb from seventh to third place in the A-League's ...
