Cable companies are beating out telco companies in the highly competitive and converging environment, said Moody's Investors Service, in a recent teleconference. The rating agency's cable and telco analysts concluded that cable companies are ahead of the telco companies when it comes to positioning themselves competitively in the fight for larger market share.

Since the Telecommunications Act of 1996, cable companies have spent $85 billion, adopting offensive strategies by concentrating on high-speed data, video-on-demand services, product rollout in all markets, and better customer relationships resulting in lower subscriber churn, said Moody's.
