Aug. 23--As soon as she finished listening to the message on her cell phone, Celia Schwarz shared the secret she just heard.

The furniture saleswoman told her manager and a co-worker that a woman had left a hot stock tip on her voice mail by mistake.

They searched the Internet for the ticker symbol the caller talked about and found it belonged to a local company developing early detection tests for breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Then, Schwarz called her brokerage firm for a quote on the stock's price.
