Modern industries such as chip, disk-drive, bearing, and optical manufacturing require precision sensing and control to repeatably produce high yields and rapid throughput, and maintain stringent workpiece tolerances. As a result, the DA, instrumentation, and motion control systems embedded in these processes are continuously pushing the limits of dynamic precision. Concurrently, digital signal processing (DSP) is being used in applications as diverse as communications, control systems, radar, sonar, seismology, telemetry, biometrics, speech analysis and synthesis, and image processing. Today, modular DSP systems are increasingly used in precision industries as a "smart" ...
