ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Because all of its 0.2-through 10-hp refrigeration condensing units designed primarily for the retail food service industry used CFC-12, Tecumseh Products Co. launched an early program to convert its 26-model condensing unit line and 32 related compressors to HCFC-22.
But with the recent political pressure to also shorten the availability span of HCFC-22, it soon became obvious that the longer-term solution -- conversion to HFC-134a -- would have to be accelerated, said Jack Duncan, vice president, sales.
