Lummis: Why do you think that the Japanese public was so cool towad the Gulf war?
Sadria: In order to evaluate the Japanese reponse to the Gulf war, we need a larger comparative perspective. I suggest that we start by looking at reactions from developing countries in the South and from different part os the Wester world. If we observe the street demonstrations and different political initiatives from Malaysia to Morocco, it seems rather obvious that people from the South felt that the war in the Persian Gulf was another aggression against them.
