With federal officials insistent that the sizeable flight-delay troubles at O'Hare International Airport be resolved soon, some aviation experts and proponents of expanding the role of Gary/Chicago International Airport believe this may be Gary's chance to capitalize on what Chicago can no longer handle.
U.S. Transportation Department officials on Wednesday formally asked the major airlines serving Chicago to relinquish flights as a temporarily and immediate solution to O'Hare's on-time performance problem.
