Instead of asking parents to send their children to vacation Bible school last month, Highland Hills Baptist Church asked the entire family to come along.
At the Fort Thomas church and at many others, the old summertime tradition of vacation Bible school is being transformed into a family affair, operating on weekday evenings and featuring programming not just for the kids but also for mom and dad.
"It's a new approach to VBS," said Becky Alexander, family pastor at Highland Hills. "Normally just the kids attend, but we invited the entire family to attend."
