As senior-vice president and associate general counsel of Merrill Lynch & Co., Carlos Morales is the quintessential representation of Latino success in the US.
Born in New York to first generation Puerto Ricans, Morales moved back to Puerto Rico with his parents and didn't return to the US until he attended college.
In the US, Morales attended such prestigious institutions as Yale, Princeton, and Columbia University and eventually obtained a law degree. He went to work for the US Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC, and later on joined Merrill Lynch as legal counsel (in 1986).
