Aug. 29--El Paso Republican Irene Marquez Wilson and her 34-year-old daughter Myra Ortega were among more than 11,000 people who attended President George W. Bush's rally in Las Cruces on Thursday.
As Hispanics, they are part of a group of Americans that both parties are targeting this year like never before.
National pundits generally reduce New Mexico's importance more or less to one thing: the Hispanic vote.
But Wilson, 57, as well as Hispanic elected officials who spoke to the Sun-News, said they may be missing the mark.
