Aug. 29--CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- Wyoming residents probably were a little better off in 2003 than they were the year before, thanks largely to the healthy economy, a state official said Friday.

Wenlin Liu, an economist for the state's Economic Analysis Division, based his observations on a report released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

But state officials also are saying that Census figures do not accurately reflect the amount of money that it takes to live in Wyoming. Rather, they say, many in the state struggle to make ends meet.
