NEW HARMONY, Ind. _ Robert Owen's dream of founding New Harmony as an oasis in an often chaotic world didn't die when he returned to Scotland in 1828.

Later this year, 18 young people from the Middle East and North Africa will gather in New Harmony to meet with residents their own age to seek common ground.

"They've been selected for their openness, brightness and courage," said Jane Blaffer Owen, who has coordinated the gathering along with the State Department and Purdue University.
