The Madison School Board reversed itself Monday on some of the budget cuts it made in May after being challenged by Madison Teachers Inc., the district's teachers union.
The board last spring reduced four athletic director positions -- one at each high school -- to 40 percent time. The employees in those positions were assigned teaching responsibilities for the other 60 percent.
MTI, which represents the employees, filed a grievance. The teachers contract requires that athletic directors be assigned only athletic director duties, said John Matthews, MTI executive director.
