I MEET David Edwards outside a Tube station in west London.
He's waiting for his son to finish work and says I can wait with him. The only reason he's agreed to see me, he says, is because he wants to put a few things straight about his brother, John, the man who, it was suggested yesterday, had frittered away [pounds sterling]10 million of the fortune left to him by Francis Bacon, widely regarded as the greatest British painter of the 20th century. "John was a really good bloke," says David, but then he would say that, wouldn't he?
John died of lung cancer aged 53 in a Bangkok hospital in March 2003.
