It's easy to write Frigg off as "the second coming of JPP": After all, the young band has three Jarvelas, members of the legendary Kaustinen family that founded JPP. Frigg's five-fiddle assault creates the same ebb, flow, and tidal waves of melody that are JPP's trademark, and their arrangements rise to the high levels established by their elders. To top it all off, Frigg's eponymous debut was produced by JPP's Titan Alakotila.
Well, perhaps "write off" is the wrong term. Being the next JPP would be quite an honor, but it would also sell this Finnish-Norwegian septet short. Frigg has taken JPP's "wall of fiddle" sound and run ...
