TOKYO, Sept 2 Asia Pulse - Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (TSE:4183) plans in fiscal 2005 to start using kerosene and light oil as alternative petrochemical raw materials in an effort to reign in cost increases.
The firm has been relying on naphtha for its petrochemical production, but the price of the material has been rising sharply. Another motivation for using kerosene and light oil is a tax law change in fiscal 2004 that made them exempt from the oil and coal tax when used as petrochemical raw materials .
